"The Invention of Morel" cannot be defined or interpreted by just one person. This is a personal book, one that is asking questions that should not be agreed upon or thought about communally, but individually. These questions must be answered by ourselves, and trigger self-reflection.

For me this book and it's contents could be summarized in seven sentences. In order to dive deeper into the self-reflection I began through my writing, I chose to make the creation of these sentences a labor intensive ritual that would be well documented. It is not my result, but the process that served as my narrative response, and formed a relationship between myself as the designer and the fugitive as the protagonist.

The Sentences: A Race Between Object and Shadow is Infinite. The Unreal Can Only Judge Us in Our Mind. Illusion Strengthens Our Perception. Reality Is Knowledge Incapable of Understanding. Eternity Only Comes Once a Week. Repetition is always There for Us. Death Comes Unnoticed as Our Disappearance is Realized.

I decided to take this concept my sentences had developed and push the idea farther by using an alternative medium. This reslted in the idea that the entire book, “The Invention of Morel,” could be summarized in one sentence. The sentence I wrote is “Repetition is an eternal and internal phenomenon that should be avoided and embraced.”

The stop-motion technique is used here to further examine the importance of the “process” established through the imagery of my book design.
