Migration
Songs is an experimental dance piece that explores the cycles of life
and evolution through the motion of migratory seeds, birds and the monarch
butterfly. Designed as a collaboration with choreographer Norah Zuñiga
Shaw, Migration Songs combines live performance and video projections
that incorporate text and geographical maps against a backdrop mimicking
the pattern of the butterfly wings. |

The
ancient voices of the story tellers speak of a world in constant motion.
Species in nature traveling North and South, and over again to evolve and
reproduce. Text flows on the screen tracing the route of migratory birds
in the Americas, as a new map develops without borders.
Migration Songs was premiered
at the Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA, in May 2003. |
