The Town by Amanda Watarz
Inspired by View of A Walled City in River Landscape
Day is breaking in this quaint little town. Church bells are ringing. As we survey the town, we see all of its details.
Although the original is only inches in size, the detail is amazing. The unknown artist's intent was to simply display the town. I kept this in mind when I modeled it and set it into motion. I didn't want to overcomplicate the scene with busy camera work; my intent was to make things simple yet beautiful. Scholars do not know which medieval city this scene shows, but they believe that it represents a town in the upper Rhine of Germany around 1490. To me, it felt like a town from a fairy tale, and this is the approach I took with the music, which I also composed. I want people to feel the fantasy of The Town.
