For one minute and forty seconds, Alida Valli's character, Anna Schmidt, walks down a tree-lined lane toward Holly Martins (played by Joseph Cotten), the man who caused the death of her lover. The scene seems to stretch on and on, and we are waiting for her to reach Martins and say something angry and cathartic and final to him.
But she says nothing.
