The Alchemist, Cornelis Bega, 1663

Numerous pots, boxes, and things-I-don't-know-the-name-of cluttered around in a room late one afternoon, The Alchemist was one of the works that appealed to me the  most at the Getty, which is why I chose to model it for my project. While the original painting makes accomplishing alchemy during daylight seem highly unlikely, I added a sphere of magic that takes place late at night.
