Assignment 1  Getty

This piece was inspired by a French canopy bed displayed in the Getty called Lit a la Polonaise.  The original bed has intricate patterns covering the frame as well as vine and leaf detailing along the top ridges. Much of the furniture and interior design of the time included very organic-looking ornamentation, such as leaves and flowers. The bed itself is so grand and luxurious and one can imagine falling asleep in it and waking up the next morning to see that it has come alive and that the whole bed has turned into a living organism. This image illustrates what it would be like if the leafy decoration on this bed started to grow and began to overflow onto the bed.
