I don't believe I considered Joanne's outlook on internet identity when I was thinking of my portfolio site. I would want my site to represent who I was as genuinely and effectively as possible. She raised the idea that the internet may be one of the sole places to try on new identities without the necessary funding of a motion picture or publishing company to produce a novel for the same effect.

However, if the whole of my identity was kept private, I could essentially try on as many hats as I would like. I guess I could escape reality by going onto the internet. She mentioned, "little fiction are optional accessories in the complicated process of defining an identity online," and I feel as though these little fictions almost creep up on you without you noticing. Perhaps you aren't even aware that who are you isn't how you'd like to be represented. And the fictions are both to you and the community which views them.

Nevertheless, I'm not trying to use my portfolio site to depict someone I'm not. So the two questions that arise from this article for me are:
