Operation
The spectator enters into the room. A camera works as a position sensor. As she or he gets closer to the screen, the image changes, generating a zoom effect by proximity. When the subject/spectator is less than 2 meters away from the women on the screen, she reacts to the new presence by turning around. When the espectator moves away, she returns to her original contemplation position.
The tracking algorithm was implemented in Moldeo by comparing a reference image corresponding to the empty room with the current video frame captured by the camera. Since the only illumination in the room was provided by the projection itself, this posed some problems regarding the sensiblility of the system. These problems were solved by introducing a number of heuristics into the algorithm that helped to differenciate true signal from noise.
